The local Ellwood City Relay For Life has announced two exciting events happening later in March. Committee meeting details are also made available to the public as the committee seeks to spread the word about the Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society right here in our home town.
Grand Biloxi's Relay for Life team captain, Kim Bartlett, HR Generalist, led the team in raising more than $4000 for the Harrison County Relay for Life through various fundraisers including a book fair, bake sale, car wash, t-shirt sale, and a special Relay for Life drink menu offered in the Grand Biloxi Lobby Bar throughout the month of April. The relay for life story In May 1985 Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon, decided to raise money for the American Cancer Society by doing something he enjoyed — running marathons. He spent 24 hours circling the University of Puget Sound's Baker Stadium track — covering a total distance of more than 83 miles. For over 20 years, Relay supporters have helped us change the lives of people with cancer. And now more than ever, we know that those affected by cancer need our support. That's why this year, we have reimagined Relay For Life into Relay At Home — a new way to Relay online and keep our communities safe during COVID-19. Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge for Cancer Council NSW. Teams of friends, families, schools and colleagues raise money in the lead up to an overnight event, where team members take turns walking around a track to signify that cancer never rests, so neither do we.

Please join us for our next meeting of Ellwood City Relay For Life on Tuesday, March 12th at 6:00 pm. We will be meeting at the Moose, 1400 Factory Avenue. Plans will continue for our 2019 Carnival For A Cure on Lawrence Avenue again, Saturday, May 18th from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for the Kid zone, tent set-up and area set-up, luminaries and general Relay information. If you would like to help or serve on a committee come to the meeting.

It is back, an evening of Relay teams battling behind the bar to raise money for Ellwood City Relay For Life. On Friday, March 22, 2019, Main Street Grille, 708 Lawrence Avenue, downtown Ellwood City, is hosting this battle from 9:00 P.M. – 1:00 A.M. Along with a donation cover charge at the door there will be drink specials, taco bar, a DJ, special guest, basket raffle and giveaways.

Casino Bus Trip to Presque Isle
Team Circle of Friends is going to Presque Isle in Erie to play at the casino on Saturday, March 30, 2019. The group will depart from the Ellwood City Hospital via bus at 7:30 am and return at 5:30 pm, during the ride there will be fun, games, 50/50, prizes, snacks and drinks. The cost is $40.00 which includes a $30.00 slot play. Seating is limited to 56, so reserve your spot!
